Just another day at the Office Empty Just another day at the Office

Light looked around the hospital, looking rather bored. Taking a glance at the clock, a small smile flashed across his face. 4:30... Only thirty more minutes till my shift's over... That's always a good thing. Looking around, he started walking down the hallway towards the patient's rooms, making sure he had taken care of all his patients for the day. Nodding as he had, he started back up towards the front of the Hospital.

And to think.. This is a time of war, yet, we've not had any reported injuries in the past few days.. All we've really had are the civilians getting sick and what not.. Sortof boring when I don't get to actually use these skills I trained for... Meh, whatever, it's actually a really good thing that no ones hurt and that I don't have to use these skills. Yawning he looked at the clock again seeing that ten minutes had passed since he had started to think to himself.

Paks glanced up at the skyline, noting the position of the sun. It was around that time wasn't it? Blinking through the sun's glare that was intense even so late in the day, she quickly leapt to a nearby rooftop to escape from the slow crowds on the streets. Allowed to move at her own pace now, Paks cleared rooftops with ease, making her way towards one of the larger buildings in Iwagakure. It looked slower than normal, but then again, Paks only went there on certain occasions.

Dropping lightly onto the dirt street, she made her way into the building and down several bright hallways. Nodding slightly to the nurse at the front desk, Paks continued on without a word until she spotted a familiar dark blue cloak. Using skills seldom practiced in such innocuous and innocent places as the hospital, Paks snuck up to Light until she was standing directly behind him. Paks leaned in slightly, to whisper coolly in the medical-nin's ear, "Yo 'Kari-kun."

The cloak shimmered in the light, as Light turned at an alarming rate. " Well Well... Neechan... What brings you to the one place you hate more than.... Well.. " Light stopped, trying to think of something she hated more than the Hospital. " I've got nothing... " Light spoke, then chuckled a bit.

" Seriously.. What brings you here? " Light spoke, then looked up at the clock, still not time for him to be leaving yet, which caused him to sigh, heavily. " I leave in about twenty minutes... Paks. " Light spoke, while fiddling with his gloves. Glancing at her, he waved his hand infront of her face. " You listening to me or just shocked that I actually turned out to be an extremely great medic? " He laughed, wandering what her responce to all this would be.

Paks paused for a moment, her face a calm mask even around her brother. Was she really that open with her dislike of this place? Dislike probably wasn't the proper word, but it would suffice. She would have to work on that if it turned out she was too forward with said dislike.

Glancing up at Light, she pulled herself from her errant musing. "Oh? Great is what they're calling that now-a-days? I would never have guessed..." she drawled calmly.

The two of them generally made a striking pair, the text book definition of polar opposites. He tall and outgoing, always ready with a witty or amusing comment, and her, short and withdrawn, hardly ever incited from her calm state of mind. Even their fighting styles differed greatly. Where he used explosively damaging attacks, Paks focused more on the subtle manipulation of her opponents, flitting around and destroying their defenses before swooping in for the killing blow. Sometimes their differences complemented each other, and other times, they clashed. Generally though, Paks was fond of her little brother, and while she wouldn't admit it, least of all to him, the main reason for her coming here, had been to check up on him.

Glancing at her, he smiled one of his great big smiles. " Neechan... You don't have to check up on me everytime I get hurt during a mission. " Light spoke in a calmed tone, then realized that she couldn't have known about the mission yet, since the clan didn't speak of things like that. Sheesh I messed up just now...

Looking at her, he then started to zone out thinking back to the mission he'd went on just five days previous. The mission had started going down hill when the team got separated while fighting two S-Ranked Missing Ninja. Both of them had been extremely skilled, and one had easily been able to take on the other three members of the group, while the other man had forced Light away from the group.

The man's power was pure lightning, and while Light did have two tricks to counter-act this type of fight, they just weren't enough, and then man had even hit him with some Chidori Senbon. That was when it was revealed the man was an Uchiha, and had been aiming to kill all the people that opposed him. Light had been hit with another Chidori-esq manuever that had knocked him out, and when he regained his mentality, the Uchiha had escaped, but his team had defeated the other man, and even brought him back to Iwagakure. Light was now technecally on leave and was working shifts at the hospital to give him time to rest up.

Paks tensed slightly, an almost unnoticeable action. He'd gotten hurt on a mission? She quickly eyed him unobtrusively, but could find no wounds or anything else serious. "...What rank?" she asked distantly, watching his movements for an indication of his physical state. It was strange, that even now, when Light was a Jounin, ANBU even, that she still felt protective of him. The sheer fact that they were somewhat close was something of a shock, seeing as the Kuchinawa Clan did not try and harbor even a semblance of close ties with each other.

She knew he could handle himself in a fight, better than many other Iwa shinobi, but still... Perhaps it was an older sisters place to think such things? Still, she was controlled enough to keep her thoughts and feelings off her face and out of her tone.

Looking up and into her eyes, Light physically tensed when she asked what rank. " SS.. " Light spoke in a quieted tone, knowing she was going to disapprove of him taking the mission to start with. " It was half completed... Unexpected problems come up during the mission... It started out to be just a regular assassination mission, however, two other S-Ranked Missing Nin joined the fight, which added to the problem. "

The original mission had been to eliminate one single S-Ranked Missing Ninja that had went missing from Iwagakure. That part of the mission was partially succeded, however, they hadn't been the ones to kill him, when the two other missing ninja joined in the fight. While his injuries had been the worst of his group, the others were also on leave at the moment. " Paksennarion.. I'm sorry I failed you and the Kuchinawa clan. " Light spoke, his head somewhat dropping.

Paks held back a sigh, and slowly reached up to ruffle Light's hair. She had to stand on her tip-toes to do so, but sometimes sacrifices had to be made. "Don't worry 'Kari-kun, if Father asks, I never knew you went on a mission. But you'd do best to avoid him for a few days, until something else draws his attention. You know how he is." Paks knew better than most how her Father was. She had borne the brunt of his expectations, his disappointment and subsequent reeducation, but that didn't mean the expectations never trickled down to Light either. Luckily, Father had much more important things to deal with than a ward of the Clan, generally he left Light to his own devices.

"So, you survived an S rank again, huh? How is your team?" Switching the current subject slightly seemed appropriate at the time.

When she moved to ruffle his hair, he moved away, not on account he didn't like it, but on account it was something moving towards him. Their 'father', while not really Light's father, but more of his adopted father, had already gotten to him. While not being apart of the clan, that didn't mean the Man didn't do anything to him. Light looked at her, and then at the clock. " Well I'm out of here... See you later Paksennarion. " Light spoke in a rushed tone, and took off for the door.

The truth was, the missing ninja that he was suppsoe to kill was from the Kuchinawa clan, and the mission reports had been turned in as them notkilling him, but the missing ninja's killing him. Normally the Kuchinawa Clan head would overlook anything dealing with Light, however, this was the one thing he hadn't, their father hadn't let him live it down. Verbal abuse, him actually throwing Light through a door, and being threaten to be thrown out of the clan for ever had all be thrown at him four nights previous, and Light just didn't want to deal with anything right now, and had even stay at his own Clan House ever since.

Paks froze, hand held distended before she dropped it, turning to watch Light leave quickly. What was that about? He normally didn't use her full name like that, Light knew how much she hated it. So why was he being all formal?

Unable to let the issue rest as she should have done, Paks followed after him quietly. She didn't say anything, merely kept her silence and waited for him to either speak or shrug her off. Silence had always been her approach in these situations. If he wanted to talk he would, and if he wanted her to leave, he would tell her so. Sometimes, they just spent time together without talking at all. It was rare to find someone who could stand her silences, without getting annoyed, and Paks savored the times when they happened.

Following after him, her steps surefooted and nearly silent, she nodded to the nurse at the desk again before passing by. Even if she could stand the hospital for the sake of talking to her brother, Paks was glad that they were leaving.
